Where it falls down is anywhere that isn’t smooth and flat. Grout lines between tiles? It rides over them. Textured slate or stone? Not great. Tight corners? The bulky head can’t reach. And it can’t pick up dry crumbs or cereal since there’s no suction. Sitting at the premium tier, it’s competing against the cheaper Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene that does more for less, which makes the WashG1 a harder sell in 2026 than when it launched.

The 170-degree lay-flat angle slides under most furniture. With 64,000 filaments on the roller it does a decent job on everyday spills: coffee, juice, general kitchen grime. Having no suction motor takes out one noise source, same as the WashG1, though neither machine is genuinely quiet.

It’s the most affordable Dyson floor cleaner by a wide margin. But the compromises are real. No self-cleaning mode means rinsing the roller by hand after every use. The 10 oz clean water tank covers about 1,076 square feet, so bigger homes need multiple refills. And like the WashG1, no suction means no dry debris pickup. Crumbs and cereal need sweeping first.

For a studio flat or as a quick-clean supplement to your main vacuum, it’s genuinely useful. As a primary wet and dry cleaner for a family home, it’s too limited.

And it’s a very good vacuum. 240 air watts of suction from a 125,000 RPM Hyperdymium motor puts it at the top of Dyson’s cordless lineup. You get three interchangeable cleaning heads: the Fluffy Optic with Dyson’s green laser for hard floors, the Digital Motorbar with anti-tangle tech for carpet, and the Submarine wet roller for mopping. The piezo sensor counts particles on an LCD display and auto-adjusts suction, which is properly clever tech that none of the dedicated wet cleaners here can match.

The catch is the mopping. A 300 mL clean water tank covers maybe two rooms before you’re back at the sink. There’s no self-cleaning for the wet roller, so you’re rinsing it by hand after every use. And the dirty water tank can leak if you tilt the machine while carrying it. Compare that to the Tineco S9’s steam cleaning dock or Dyson’s own Clean+Wash Hygiene with its hot-air drying cycle. Suction vs No Suction

Not all wet floor cleaners vacuum. The Dyson WashG1 and PencilWash use mechanical rollers without any suction, which means they can’t pick up dry debris. Every other machine on this list combines suction with wet mopping. If you want one device for everything, avoid the suction-free models.

Tank Capacity

Smaller tanks mean more interruptions. The Dyson WashG1 leads with a full litre of clean water, with the Dreame H14 Pro and Tineco S9 close behind at 880 ml.
